Valentine’s Day Etiquette

A little extra thought and consideration are needed in choosing a Valentine’s Day gift that is both tasteful and thoughtful.  From home made Valentine’s Day cards to flowers or the perfect dinner (either eating out or a romantic candle light dinner at home), there is a guide for Valentine’s Day etiquette.

People seem to have either one of two thoughts about Valentine’s Day – the romantics who see it as a wonderful day of affection, gifts and expressions of love.  Then there are those who wish they could sleep through, so they don’t have to look at bouquet-carrying, heart-shaped-chocolate-eating, love struck persons.  Regardless of your take on it, Valentine’s Day is responsible for an uptick in global business every February, all thanks to consumers buying gifts in hordes.

Valentine’s Day is not just for people in love relationships. No one needs to be left out. It’s for everyone. The beauty of the day is not in the meals, flowers, and jewellery – it is in the smiles, kind words and nice gestures we give.

The day would be sweeter if there was less stress over gifts, meals and flowers. It would be sweeter if more people were connected by the things that really matter and has eternal value; the things that will stay in the person’s heart forever and, like most of the best things, don’t cost a cent.

Be someone’s Valentine this year. Actually, be a lot of people’s Valentine. Spread the spirit of the day to all those who make your life sweeter and more beautiful with a sincere expression of gratitude towards them and even a gesture that they are important to you.

Valentine’s Day is a special time to celebrate love, and Valentine’s Day etiquette is essential to make it a memorable experience. Be thoughtful, considerate and respectful.
